Btw, I can recommend turning font "hints" down to none or low to get less blotchy text in Linux. It doesn't work properly in FreeType anyway. You get rid of the "uneven" look which bothers me to no end. (curves that turn corners tend to look fatter) The result is a little softer, but a bit more like OS X, since Apple value typeface correctness over artificial pixel grid snapping. Nice.
